Please note that in the
Kalooki game 2
decks of cards are played including 2 jokers. This means 106 cards total, so there's a chance to get every card twice, even the
jokers. Having this in mind, you don't need to cancel strategies if you lost your chance to get a certain card, there's always the possibility of getting it once again.
Drawing a card in the kalooki game can be a very valuable strategy during the game. If you focus in drawing cards only from the deck pile and not from the
discard pile you will remain mysterious in the eyes of the other players and they will never know which cards you need. As the game progresses and you drawing cards from the deck pile and not the discard pile, your competitors will notice the problem and will have a hard time to figure out your game, this is why its better you will
draw as many cards from the deck pile and stay mysterious to others.
If and when the cards at the top of the discard pile are cards which your competitors don't need and when you still draw cards from the deck pile it can in many cases prevent your competitors to meld and reveal their hand.
When you
discard a card, it's important you discard a card which you don't need and doesn't match any of the other cards in your hand to create series. If you pay attention to the cards the other players discard and you try to discard the same cards you will prevent them from using the cards you discarded. It's very important to keep track of the cards which were discarded.
In the Kalooki game in order to
meld and reveal your cards you have to create series which sum up in 51 points and more, this is why it's very important to stock cards with higher value until you achieve the desired target of reaching these points as soon as possible. When you meld, it's important to pay attention to 2 things: 1. when you discard a card which doesn't match the cards you have left in your hand make sure to leave a chance to build an additional series from the cards you left in your hand after melding.
2. If you already used the Joker when melding, try to put it in a series of a set like 8 clover, 8 heart shaped and a Joker and not a running series, this way it will be more difficult for your opponents to replace the joker with a card they have.
Try to use the element of surprise if and when you have the chance to do so. We mean the hunt more in which you complete your hand in one shot and leave your opponents with all the cards in their hand. This will give you an extra 25 positive points. Try to watch your opponents and do your move in the early stages of the game when you have your chance to do so. If your competitors already melded and revealed their cards, don't stall and try to perform a hunt, this is too risky, this is why you should meld as soon as possible.
