Kalooki

Kalooki is the name of one of the most popular versions of the Rummy game.

Sources estimates that the name originated in Jamaica.

This game is common mainly in England, France and Europe. In England casinos Kalooki tournaments are being held every night.

Kalooki is played with 2 decks of 52 cards each plus 2 Jokers (106 cards). In the Kalooki game each player is dealt 13 cards when the object of the game is to gather series of Sets or Runs and the player who finishes first the unveiling of the series is the winner.

In order to unveil the series on the table in front of the rest of the players, the unveiling player must show series with the sum of 51 and up and only then he can continue to add cards to existing series which other players showed.

The first player who completes all the cards in his hand is the winner.

Differently than the game of Gin, when the player finishes and unveils all of his cards, there is no way for other players to show more series, this is actually when the game ends and the other player's leftover cards are counted as penalty points
