Rummy Games - Traditional Rummy

The traditional rummy version exists all around the world.

This is the simplest and most basic version for the beginning players, there are no complicated rules and no high techniques are required to compete in this version. The traditional rummy version much like the Kalooki version can last for a longer than average duration until the end of each round which can take between 3.5 to 4 minutes.

In the traditional rummy version, 10 cards are dealt to each player and 2 decks of 52 cards each are played with no Jokers. The Ace card has double value either 1 or 11 depends on your use of it.

The rules are very clear and the object is one and only. You are allowed to do everything. There's no need for a minimum number of points to meld and reveal your cards. You can meld and reveal any series you build whether it's a small or a big one, you don't have to do it, and nothing keeps you from keeping your hand unveiled until you build a fully arranged hand.

The only rule in the traditional rummy version is that you can’t add cards to already existing series on the table if you still didn’t reveal at least 1 series regardless of being the smallest one. The winner is one who is the first to finish all the cards in his hand after finishing with the discard of the card to the discard pile.

As you probably noticed, in this version there are no special rules and the object is very clear. The game is not complicated and so it fits beginner players who just learned how to play.

After you practice the traditional rummy version and feel ready to step the next level you can deal with the other version which have more strict rules. It's important to remember – if you are participating in Traditional rummy Elimination Tourneys, don't keep series in your hand, meld with no hesitation any series you have, aim to stay with as less points as possible. To the beginners among you, it's important to start and play this version before you start playing the more advanced version. Start learning in our own Rummy school which is built from the basic to the more advanced level of players.
