Rummy Games
- Rummikub
In all the
rummy game versions,
Kalooki,
Gin,
Oklahoma and
traditional rummy you can also play with tiles (cubes) instead of cards.
In order to understand the difference between the Rummikub version and the other versions we must understand that in Rummikub we can perform moves we can't perform in the other versions.
In Rummikub 4 cards series and above are
not disassemble. For example: if you
melded and on the table there's a 4,5,6,7 heart shaped series and you want the 7 heart cube, you are allowed to take it and use it with the existing cubes. For example: two 7 cards with different shapes which will enable you to create a new series without disassemble an existing series as you left the 4,5,6.
The Rummikub is played with 106 cubes, 2 cubes with the same value and color and 2
jokers.
Obviously you can't disassemble a 3 card series since for example from a series of 8,9,10
diamond shaped, if you want the 8 diamond card, you can't have it since you get left with 2 cards which are not considered as a series.
A series is considered one when it's built from 3 cards and above.
Some historical facts:
The Rummikub game was invented in Israel at the 1940s by Epraim Hartzeno who was born in Romania.
The Hartzeno family established the KodKod company which is the exclusive distributed of the Rummikub game worldwide with 25 different languages and more than 30 million copies sold.
