Rummy Games - Gin

The Gin Rummy game is the most popular rummy game version in the USA and north America.

The Gin game is considered the shortest among all the versions and lasts in average for 2.5 to 3 minutes for one round. The game is played with a single 52 cards deck with no jokers. In a 2 player game 10 cards are dealt for each player and in a 3-4 player game, 7 cards are dealt for each player.

The object of the game is building series and getting to the finishing move – The knock or the Gin as quickly as possible. The knock is melding the series you built on the table as you are left with a total sum of cards with less than 10 points, after you discard the last card which ends the round. This move is called a Knock. After this move, the other player must meld what they have in their hand, series they build, adding cards to already existing series on the table and get left with as little points in their hand. The player who performed the knock move doesn't necessarily win the game, if another player reveals his cards after the knock move and get left with a lower sum of cards than the player who performed the knock, he will be the one who wins the game and wins an additional 10 bonus points. This move is called an Undercut.

The gin move is melding all the cards in your hand arranged in series and leaving one last card which will be discarded, so you have no cards left in your hand at all. After this move the rest of the players can reveal the series they tried to build and attempt to stay with the lower value of points they can. Adding cards to the series of the player who gone Gin is not allowed.

No player can beat a Gin move and the player who gone gin will be added 25 bonus points in addition to the negative points his competitors accumulated.

• You must pay attention to the fact that the Ace card value is 1 only. You can't use the Ace card in a Q, K series and Ace in a running series. You can only use the Ace cards in a 1,2,3 series or 1,1,1 series.

• If you think you have no chance of winning the game, try to stay with the lowest value of cards as possible.

• It is very important to memorize the cards which your opponents discarded during the game, this cards will never return as every card only exists once, the memory in this case is very important and can help you win the games.
