The Rummy Game

Rummy is a game with various versions which was invented back then in the 1920s. Apparently the first version of the rummy game is the Conquian which began in Mexico.

From this version more similar versions were invented which are all belong to one family of games – the Rummy games.

The rules of the rummy games are different from one game to the other, each version has its own rules and game strategies, this is why we can't elaborate on the rummy game rules, and we can however elaborate on the goals and the shared moves of all the versions altogether.

The process of the game is similar in all the versions – each round is made up of 3 main stages: Drawing a card, arranging the cards in series and discarding a card. In all of the rummy games we can find these 3 stages.

Drawing a card symbolizes the opening move of that same player. The player can draw a card either from the deck pile which is located on the table faced down (hide) or from the discard pile, a pile which is placed faced up (revealed), usually the card which the last player discarded is shown first.

The second stage of the rummy game is arranging the cards in the hands of the players into matching series of sets or runs when the object is optimizing the order of all cards.

The third stage is where the player discards a single card into the discard pile, this is usually a card the player doesn't need and doesn't fit into any series arrangement. This move symbolizes the end of that player's turn.

The main object of all versions of the rummy game is to be the first player who finishes all the cards in his hand arranged in matching series and adding the un matching cards to other series revealed by the other players. The player with the lowest score is the winner. If the deck pile ends before the end of the game, the discard pile is then mixed and become the new deck pile and the game continues.

These are the common stages of all the different rummy game versions and the basic rules of the game.

Of course, all of the different version can be played in both cards and cubes (tiles). From here on, each version is distributed independently and has different rules and theories.

The final goal of each version is the same in all versions of the rummy game.
