About The
Gin Rummy Game
For many
online
rummy players,
Gin Rummy is the most popular and the most played game, out of all the online
rummy versions. In most cases the game is played by two players only. In case you have three of four players, each will get 7 cards. In a two players game ( head to head Rummy ), each player will get 10 cards.
Gin Gummy itself have few different version as well, here are few:
Oklahoma Gin Rummy:
The
Oklahoma Gin Rummy game is the most played of all the
Gin rummy versions. The best thing about the Okalhoma Gin version is the use of the upcard, while
knocking. The upcard determine the minimum count that each player can knock. Meaning: the value of the upcard is the maximum that the players can knock for. If the upcard is a 9 for example; the maximum you can knock for is 8. In case the upcard is an Ace, of course no knocking allowed. Some players like to play with another fixture that says that if the upcard is a Spade suited card, the current hand that was played will count as double for the total score. In Oklahoma Gin, the target score for winning is generally set at 150 points rather than 100 points.
Hollywood Gin Rummy:
The only difference in the Hollywood Gin Rummy is the
score of the players which is kept to the sum of three
hands in a raw. Hands are played at Hollywood Rummy
for three full games ( this is called a set of games ).
Online Rummy usually does not have this kind of option
since it's not so popular. As a beginner online rummy
player, we don’t recommend you to play this version of
Rummy.
Single Gin Rummy match:
When you play Single Gin Rummy match, all players continue to play more and more rounds until the first player score 100 points. Only then there is a winner and this is the player who is the first to reach 100 points.
Gin Rummy Multi-match:
Similar to the single Gin Rummy match, but also involves some bonuses per wins. Each round that you win gives you 25 bonus points, each match 100 bonus points and so on.
The Gin Rummy game is played with one standard deck of cards. Each suit within the deck has all the cards in a run, no jokers allowed:
Ace ( the lowest card ) 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 Jack Queen and the father King.
The cards values are as follow: Face cards as known as the royal family,- 10 points
