There is no doubt about it, online rummy really is a memory game.  You have to watch the cards and try to keep track of all your moves.  If that is not bad enough you have to keep an eye on what you opponent does to.  You need to keep track of all their moves too so that you can strategize your game and actually win.

Online rummy is normally played by two people but there can be up to six players.  In online rummy games that involve three or four players each player will receive seven cards.  In games with five or six players each will receive six cards.

The main method used in all online rummy games is the draw and discard method and this is common in all online rummy variations.  An online rummy game will begin with the player to the dealers left and this player must draw a card from draw pile.  During his turn this player can either meld or lay down a card depending on what cards he holds.  The player will always have to discard a card on his turn.

In online rummy the main aim of the game is to get rid of all the cards in your hand before your opponent does.  In online rummy players often play for real cash and in order to win you really do need to understand all the terms that are used in the game.  Some common terms include:

Set:  if you have a series of 3 or more card with the same value you have a set.  An example would be 4 or clubs, 4 of hearts and 4 of diamonds.

Run:  a run is a sequence of 4 cards of the same suit.  An example of this would be 5, 6, 7 and 8 of hearts.

Meld:  a meld is formed when a player lays down the runs and sets on the table.  Melds have to be placed face up and runs have to be laid down in the correct sequence.

Building:  this is where players build on their meld.  Once a meld has been created players can continue to build it.  Sets can have a fourth card added to them and runs can have additional cards added to their sequence too.

These are just some of the terms that you need to be familiar with and practice and continuous play will help to build your memory and skill when it comes to online rummy games.

Until next time,
