When it comes to online rummy there are a number of different variations that you can choose to play. This post will give you a brief overview of these variations.

Gin Rummy:

Gin Rummy is probably one of the better known versions of online rummy games.  This game uses a standard deck of 52 cards for two players.  There are other variations of this game too and these include Oklahoma Gin.  Gin Rummy is very popular online and there are plenty of great Gin Rummy tournaments that you can take part in.

Rummy 500:

Rummy 500 uses a single deck of 52 cards and 2 of the jokers.  This game is for 2 to 8 players.  The main objective of this online rummy game is to get 500 points first and dispose of all your cards.

Canasta:

Canasta uses 2 decks of cards and 4 jokers when playing with 4 or 5 players 3 decks of cards with 6 jokers are used when there are 6 players.  Each player in this game is dealt 11 cards.  Canasta is different to other online rummy variations and the card values are also different.  The players in this online rummy game are required to make Canastas which is a meld of 7 or more cards.  Players must aim to get rid of all of their cards by melding and getting rid of their last card on the discard pile.

Kalooki Rummy:

Kalooki rummy is played using two decks of cards and 2 jokers.  A minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 players can take part in this online rummy game.  The objective of this game is to create sets and run with you cards and try to get rid of all your cards before your opponents.

There are some obvious differences in the online rummy variations but the basic structure for each game is more or less the same.  The difference usually lies in the number of decks used and the value of the cards.  If you are planning on taking up online rummy a good suggestion is to join online rummy website Rummy Royal because they allow you to play for free and practice all your skills and strategies before you play for real money.

Gin Rummy really is a global family game.  It is played worldwide by people of all ages.  Most people learn to play gin rummy when they are children and many people have very fond memories of this game too.  Poker may be an extremely popular online casino game but gin rummy is starting to catch up.

One of the main reasons behind the popularity of gin rummy is the fact that it is very easy to learn.  There are very few complicated strategies or rules in this game and that is what is making it a favourite among online players.

Gin Rummy is a great fun game but there are still some steps that players can take to ensure that they emerge as winners.  Some of the strategies include making sure that you knock your hand as early on in the game as you can.  This will earn you extra points off the deadwood in the other player’s hand.

You should also try to ensure that you don’t just pick any card as this will give your opponent the upper hand.  Every time you pick a card from the discard pile you expose information about your hand and the type of cards you have.  There is a little trick that you can use if you want to get your opponent to throw a particular card into the pile.  To do this all you have to do is discard a card from a similar rank.  This will lead your opponent to believe that you don’t need the card and they will discard it.  It can be risky but it can also work.  Don’t forget that your opponent might also know these tricks so don’t get fooled either.

Gin rummy really is a great game and there are plenty of great online gin rummy games that you can play.  There are also some great tournaments that you can play in and the cash prizes in these tournaments can be very high.

Gin Rummy is a game for 2 players and it is a variation of the traditional rummy game.  In order to win this rummy variation you have to score 100 or 250 points.  The number of points is determined at the start of the game.  There are a number of ways that you can score points in Gin Rummy and one of these is going gin.

Going gin is the most difficult when it comes to playing gin rummy but it can be done.  All you need to do is put all your cards into combinations and if you can do this you get 25 points plus the sum of whatever your opponent has failed to put into combinations.  This is called deadwood.  If you manage to do all this and you are going to go gin you still need to pick up or discard a card before you do this.

Another way of scoring in gin rummy is by knocking.  You can knock instead of putting all your cards into combinations.  If you have put as many of your cards as possible into combinations but still have some remaining and the value of them is less than 10 then you can knock and put all your cards on the table.  Once you knock the play stops and your score is calculated from your deadwood cards.  If your opponents deadwood is greater than yours you get the difference between the two added to your score.  If your opponent’s deadwood is less than yours then he wins the round and gets the score.  You will never really know if knocking is to your advantage and the only thing I will advise is that you only knock if your deadwood is less than 10.

These are the two basic ways of scoring points when playing gin rummy and the game will end when one person reaches the agreed upon score.  Oklahoma Gin which is another variation of gin rummy is a little different and in this game you can only knock if your deadwood is less than or equal to the upcard.  If the upcard is an ace then you can’t knock and you can only win by going gin.

When playing gin rummy if you are going to knock you need to do it as early in the game as possible because the longer the games goes one the harder it gets to win when you knock.

That is really it when it comes to scoring in Gin Rummy.  The main thing is that you need to practice your strategies and you can do this by playing free gin rummy games online.  Once you have perfected your strategies you can then play the great online gin rummy games that have cash prizes.

Gin rummy is one of the most popular of all the online rummy games and more and more players are interested in learning the skills required to compete and win in this skilful card game.  There are a number of websites that offer online rummy and once you register with these websites you will be able to enter their online rummy rooms and take part in the games.  Many websites also offer free gin rummy games too where you can practice you skills and perfect your strategy before moving on to paid games.

The basics of gin rummy is to take your cards and then try to form sets and meld them together.  The person who wins the game is the person who gets rid of all their cards first.  There are some great guides and tutorials available for all skill levels.  There are a number of terms that you will need to become familiar with and these terms include knocking, melds, sets and deadwood.

Gin Rummy also involves scores and a predetermined winning score is usually decided upon before the game begins.  The key to winning in gin rummy is to try to get your cards into melds as fast as possible and then knock as early as you can too.  If you start the game with high cards you should try to either form these into sets or melds as quickly as possible or get rid of them because if you opponent knocks first you could be left with a very high deadwood and this really won’t help you to win the game.

Gin Rummy is a game of skill and in order to be a success you really do need to understand all the rules and the concept of the game.  Strategies are important too and you should listen to any advice you can get.  Gin Rummy tournaments are very popular too and some of these tournaments have huge jackpot prizes for the winner.

If you think that gin rummy is a game that you would enjoy playing then I strongly suggest that you register with a reputable online rummy website such as Rummy Royal and play as many free games as possible to build you skills up before moving onto paid games and prize tournaments.

Red Hot Rummy is one of the largest website that is dedicated to online gin rummy games.  This website launched in 2006 by Game Account which is an online skills games provider.  The software that is used on the Red Hot Rummy website is very close to that used in modern online poker rooms.  The software is fast and reliable and the graphics are very realistic too.  The software is fully flash based so this means that players don’t have to download anything.  Another great thing about this is the fact that Apple and Linux users can also battle it out against Windows users.

The gin rummy lobby on the Red Hot Rummy website is extremely easy to navigate and it separates the open tables from the match play games and money games and you can also create your very own friends list and chat with other gin rummy players using the instant messaging facility.

Gin Rummy is probably one of the most popular variations of rummy when it comes to playing online. The main goal of this online rummy game is to score higher than your opponent and the purpose of this post is to give you some valuable tips on how to do just this.

The first tip that I want to tell you is that you should always play free games at first before you start betting any money. Gin Rummy can be very addictive and because it is so entertaining you can lose track of the amount of time and money you are spending. Because of this if you are just a beginner it is best to play free online rummy first until you have a solid strategy that you can use.

When you are playing Gin Rummy online a very useful trick is to get to know your fellow players. Observe them and get to know what their reputation is. When I say observe try to work out what this players strategy is and you pick out the tactics that you can use in your own game too.

The third tip is to realize that when it comes to Gin Rummy sets are better than runs most of the time. Sets are 3 or 4 cards which have the same number but are in different suits. Runs on the other hand are 3 or more cards that are in the correct order and have the same suit. It is always easier to get a set than a run before the games ends so if you aim for this you have a better chance of winning.

My final tip is to get a good poker face. I’m sure you know what a poker face is so when you pick up that card you have been waiting for you need to make sure that your opponent can’t tell how happy you are.

Now that you know these few Gin rummy tips you should be able to make your online rummy game go a little better and if you are a beginner then hopefully these tips will save you from losing a great deal of money in the learning process.

When it comes to Gin Rummy there are actually three ways to play.  These are first to knock, match play and money play.  First to know is very easy and this is when the first player to reduce their deadwood cards to ten points or less can knock and win the game.  They also win whatever money is at stake.  This is the fastest version of gin rummy and this version relies more on luck than the other two versions but it is probably the best introduction to gin rummy for beginners.

Match play is the second way to play gin rummy and this version requires several hands of cards and using a scoring system in order to determine who the winner is.  Points are calculated s the difference between the winner’s deadwood points and the loser’s deadwood points.  The scores are added up after each round and when a player’s reaches a certain amount of points they win.  The number of points is usually decided upon before the game starts and the most common number is 50 or 100.  Players can receive a bonus of 25 points if they win with a zero deadwood hand or if they win by undercutting their opponent.  The winner takes the money that has been staked at the beginning of the game only.

Money play is the third way to play gin rummy and this is usually played to 100 points using the same scoring system as the match play version.  The difference with this variation is that money is paid per point difference which means there is a greater chance of some big wins.

Gin rummy is one of the most popular online rummy games with some great tournaments and cash prizes being given out on some of the big online rummy websites such as 32Red Rummy and Rummy Royal.  If online rummy is a game that you would like to play for cash then you really do need to read the rules carefully and get in some practice before you enter any tournaments.  There are a number of rummy variations and each variation will have their own specific rules.  Most online rummy websites provide rummy guides so be sure to read these and practice using free play as much as possible until you devise your own winning strategy.
