Some people are too intimidated to try Rummy variants that they may have never played before. There are plenty of die hard Gin Rummy players who have never tried Kalooki, Oklahoma, or other Rummy games. What they may not realize, though, is that even though there are plenty of differences in the various Rummy games, there are also plenty of similarities. For example, you always have the choice of either picking up a card from the stock pile or from the discard pile and for almost all of the Rummy games, if you choose a card from the discard pile, while not always advised, you can hold on to it until you get the rest of your set or run. The difference is in the game of Kalooki 40, where any card picked up from the discard pile must be played in a meld immediately, which is a nice change because you don’t have to be bothered with remembering what your opponents are holding.
The point is, though, that many of the Rummy online games operate in much the same way. They just have a few differences to keep the game exciting. Some of the games will let you play your cards on your opponent’s melds and there are various ways of doing this as well. Oklahoma Rummy gives you the chance to undercut when your opponent knocks so you can still win even when you aren’t the first to lay your cards down.
Rummy Royal has all of your favorite Rummy games with complete instructions for each of them so you never have to feel lost. If you’re new to the game, take a few minutes to acquaint yourself with the rules by playing for free and before you know it, you’ll feel confident enough to wager in any of the most popular Rummy games.

For those that are used to sitting around the card table at home with their buddies, etiquette may be the last thing on their minds, but when you play cards at an online rummy room, such as the one at Rummy Royal, there are certain behaviors that are expected. For one thing, time is of the essence. You will notice that there is a timer but if you let it run down every time it is your turn, you will annoy all the other players. Since you can take advantage of the sit out feature for bathroom breaks and to replenish snacks, you don’t want to risk losing your turn during your time. In addition, running around the house while other players are taking their turn will only hurt you in the end because play is fast and you need to pay attention to every move that is made in order to play your best and win at the game of Rummy.
Some Rummy players enjoy the chat feature that Rummy Royal and other online card rooms have for their players while others prefer to turn it off. Even if you prefer not to chat, you can still get announcements from the dealer concerning game statistics and other announcements about upcoming games and such. If you do chat, however, take care not to be insulting to other players, even in fun. Remember, the people you are playing against aren’t your buddies and may not take kindly to good natured teasing. In addition, most Rummy sites, including Rummy Royal, frown on cursing and may ban you from the chat feature altogether if you engage in using profanity. While you can have as much fun as if you were sitting around your card table at home, think of an online card room much like you would a land based casino and act accordingly. Who knows, you may end up making lifelong friends with someone you play online Rummy with.
