The most important tenet of learning the texas holdem gameis to play for fun. Learning the texas holdem rules before starting to play will help in improving your poker playing skills.
Avoid playing every hand or too many hands, Play strong hands, especially starting hands, and don’t be afraid to fold when you feel you are losing.

Avoid playing on the tilt or when you are stressed out, too tired or too drunk. Although you feel that you are more relaxed after a few drinks, it impairs your ability to think clearly and sharply. Your opponents can sense your bad or sad mood, and take advantage of it.

Don’t bluff as a habit or simply because you must. Bluffing is an art and must be used appropriately against the right opponents.
Do not simply stay in a hand, because you have already put in a certain amount. If you are beaten, learn to fold. There is no way your hand will improve, no matter how much money you pout in. Get out when you can.

Focus on your game and be attentive, especially in a game like texas holdem poker. Once you have played your cards, it is important to look at what’s going on at the table. It is equally important to pay attention to other players as well. Observe your opponents, their habits, betting patterns and their tricks. All of this can give a lot of information on the players and the cards they may have.
